About Kathryn
Mural artist and painter currently based in Asheville, NC
Artist Statement:
Kathryn works back and forth from large scale to studio work; from aerosol being her primary medium, to acrylic. She is focused on exploring abstracted realism, and combining design with representational imagery. Her background in graphic design is apparent in her compositions. She creates floral dreamscapes, juxtaposed with layering shapes and framing. Her goal is to create a balanced and dynamic piece with as much depth as possible . This gives her a freedom in the process that allows to start either with gestural movements or shapes, working methodically, to develop and bring forward a finished piece.
Artist Bio:
Kathryn grew up in New England, where she spent her childhood and school years exploring different kinds of art. In college, Kathryn traveled to Florence, Italy to study art at the Florence University of the Arts. She graduated with a BFA from the University of Tampa in 2011. Since then, Kathryn has been a working studio artist and muralist based in North Carolina, but travels to paint and exhibit her work nationally.
She currently creates both large scale murals on walls, or paintings in the studio. She has work in cities like Charlotte, Miami, Chicago, Berkeley and Naples, Italy. She has painted murals for clients like Starbucks and Credit Karma. Her work has sparked the interest of many, and has earned her numerous commissions for private collectors and public art projects.
